ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Volleyball team opened the conference schedule with a 3-0 win over the Immaculata University Mighty Macs on Wednesday night. The set scores were 25-12, 25-8, 25-20.
Regan Hickey led the Knights with 20 points, including 15 kills, 14 digs, and five service aces.
Lauren Garvey had 14 kills and seven digs while
Dani Smith had 26 assists.
Neumann got off to a slow start dropping the match's first six points before going on a six-point run of their own. With the Knights carrying a 10-8 lead, they put together a seven-point streak to extend the lead to 11. The Mighty Macs scored two of the next three points before Neumann scored seven of the next nine to take the set.
In the second set, the Knights powered ahead 9-0 before giving up their first point. Neumann then scored the next six to pull away, winning the set by 17. The Knights got off to a strong start in the third, taking an early 6-2 lead. Immaculata pulled within two, at 8-6 but the Knights would extend their lead to seven, taking a 15-8 lead. The Mighty Mac kept the set as close as they could but Neumann took four of the last six point to secure the win.
Neumann(13-7, 1-0 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Friday night when they head to Marywood University for another conference game, starting at 7:00 PM.
