ASTON, Pa – The Neumann University Field Hockey team were handed a 1-0 loss in a heartbreaking double overtime tilt against Atlantic East Conference rival, Immaculata University, on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights defense held strong not allowing a goal in the first quarter while having to defend four penalty corners. Throughout the second quarter Neumann had the advantage, having a chance to find the back of the net with three penalty corners but could not quite get there.
The third quarter was a neutral quarter with possession bouncing back and forth between the Knights and the Mighty Macs. In the fourth quarter
Cadence Conti had a shot on goal for the Knights but couldn't break through.
After one period of overtime the scored stayed locked at 0-0. Within the last minute of the game Immaculata was able to find an edge and push a goal through.
Conti and
Mia Black led Neumann with two shots on goal each.
Emma Schneider was stellar in the cage today for the Knights coming up with four saves.
Neumann (4-11, 1-3 Atlantic East) will be back at it again Wednesday afternoon in another conference match up against Manhattanville College. This game will start at 4:00 PM.
