ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Marymount University on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference contest. Set scores were 25-20, 25-22 and 25-18.
Regan Hickey tallied 10 kills for the Knights.
Dani Smith handed out 25 assists.
Claudia Bournazel notched 13 digs and
Lauren Garvey added 12.
The Knights started out strong with two kills by Hickey and an early 5-1 lead. The Saints chipped their way back in and took a 16-15 after scoring seven of eight points. Tied at 18, Marymount tallied four straight points and went on for the 25-20 set one win.
Neumann opened set two by scoring the first four points. With the Knights leading 16-13, the Saints scored eight of the next nine points to take a 21-17 lead. Neumann pulled to within one, 23-22, but Marymount hung on for the 25-22 second set win.
The Saints jumped out to a 12-5 lead in set three. The Knights stayed within striking distance, but Marymount was able to take the match in three with a 25-18 third set win.
Neumann (14-8, 2-1 Atlantic East) is now off until next Saturday, October 28, when it will host Gwynedd Mercy and Lebanon Valley in a tri-match. The first match is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
