Women’s Volleyball Celebrates Senior Day with Pair of Wins

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team took a pair of matches as they celebrated senior day! The Knights defeated Gwynedd Mercy in Atlantic East Conference action 3-1. Neumann followed with a 3-1 win over Lebanon Valley.
 
Prior to the first match, Neumann honored its seniors: Brandon Baskerville (manager), Jules Dill, Tori Burgess, Lauren Garvey, Anna Mansel and Regan Hickey.
 
Against the Griffins, Hickey led the team with 16 kills and 18 digs. Garvey added 16 kills and 13 digs. Dani Smith handed out 50 assists. Claudia Bournazel added 15 digs.
 
Gwynedd Mercy took the first set 25-17. The Knights answered with a 25-17 win in set two capped on a kill by Hickey. A six-point run in set three helped Neumann with a 25-22 win, sealed on a Mansel kill. Hickey sealed the match win with a kill in the 25-13 set four win.
 
Against Lebanon Valley, Hickey had 17 kills and 19 digs. Garvey added 14 kills and 15 digs. Smith handed out 44 assists and added 18 digs. Bournazel notched 11 digs. The team finished with 18 service aces, led by Mansel and Smith with four each.
 
The Knights cruised to a 24-11 set one win. Set two was a little closer. The Flying Dutchmen scored six straight points to take a 19-16 advantage. The Knights came back and tied the match at 23. After trading points, Lebanon Valley scored two points for a 26-24 win.
 
Holding a 14-7 lead in set three, Neumann came away with a 25-21 win for a 2-1 match lead. It was a battle down the stretch and a kill by Hickey gave the Knights the 25-22 win and 3-1 match win.
 
Neumann (16-8, 3-1 Atlantic East) heads to Centenary on Wednesday evening to finish conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
