ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team suffered a 3-2 loss to their UCHC rivals, the Chatham University Cougars on Friday night.
The Knights got the scoring rolling 3:18 into the game, when
Yancy Whitaker deflected in a
Brady Mistler shot.
Cameron Hatziioannou got the secondary assist on the power play marker, giving Neumann a 1-0 lead. 6:31 later, Chatham scored to even up the game.
The Knights retook the lead with 5:37 left in the frame when
Tyler Kulas shoved home a rebound to make it a 2-1 game. Whitaker and
Tony Andrews picked up assists. Three minutes later, the Cougar again equalized, this time with a power play goal. Chatham took the lead with 12:05 left in the second on another goal on the man advantage. Although Neumann held the shots on goal advantage, 29-20, the could not find the tying goal throughout the third period.
Kulas, Hatziioannou,
Luke Croucher led they way with four shots on goal each. Croucher also won 10 of the 15 faceoffs he took.
Cole DeFazio made 17 saves in the effort.
Neumann(2-5, 2-4 UCHC) and Chatham will once again meet, tomorrow afternoon at the IceWorks Skating Complex. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
