CLINTON, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's basketball team dropped an 83-65 decision to Hamilton College on Sunday afternoon in the Championship game of the Hamilton Men's Basketball Tournament.
Jalen Vaughns and
Kyle Thompson were named to the All-Tournament team. Vaughns scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the game. Thompson hit four three-pointers and finished with 18 points.
Ja'bri White added 12 points.
Hamilton hit four three-pointers in the first four minutes to take an early 16-6 lead. With 5:23 left in the first half, two free throws by
Bernard Lightsey brought Neumann within six, 31-25. The Continentals answered with another three-pointer, finishing the game with 17. Lightsey connected on a basket from downtown to cap the scoring in the first half. Hamilton took a 43-35 lead into the break.
The Knights pulled to within three twice in the first five minutes of the second half. With the score 48-45, the Continentals score the next seven points to extend their lead back to 10, 55-45. Hamilton continued to add to its lead and held a 20-point advantage, 81-61, with 3:08 left in regulation.
Neumann (1-3) will host the University of Valley Forge on Tuesday for its home opener. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 PM.
