ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball picked up an 80-56 win in its home opener over the University of Valley Forge on Tuesday evening.
Jalen Vaughns led the Knights with 33 points and 15 rebounds.
Kyle Thompson was 7-for-7 from the line and finished with 11 points.
TJ Lewis added 10 points and seven boards.
Out of the 13 players to hit the court for the Knights, 12 had at least a rebound and 10 scored at least two points.
After the teams traded baskets to open the game, Neumann netted the next right points for a 10-2 lead. The Patriots scored the next two baskets. The Knights built their first double-digit lead on a Vaughns layup midway through the half, 18-8. Each team had mini runs through the rest of the half and Neumann took a 34-23 lead into the break.
The Knights opened the second half on a 22-2 run for a 56-25 lead and never looked back.
Neumann (2-3) will host Alvernia next Tuesday in non-conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
