READING, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team suffered a 6-3 loss Friday night at Alvernia University in the United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) opener.
Three minutes into the first period, Alvernia struck first taking the lead 1-0. With six minutes left in the first period, the Golden Wolves made it 2-0 with a power play goal. Neumann was able to cut the lead in half, 2-1, with a goal at the 16:10 mark of the first.
Joe DiGiulio found the back of the net with assists from
Brady Mistler and
Cole DeFazio.
Eight minutes into the second period,
Tyler Inlow scored a power play goal to tie the game at two.
Tyler Kulas and
Dexton Mozell tallied the assists. However, Alvernia scored two goals before the next intermission for a 4-2 score after two.
PJ Demitrio scored a power play goal midway through the third for a 4-3 game. The Golden Wolves tallied two empty net goals for the 6-3 final.
DeFazio made 39 saves in the game. Kulas led the Knights with seven shots followed by Demitrio with five shots.
Neumann (0-2, 0-1 UCHC) will host Alvernia tomorrow in the back end of the home-and-home. Puck is slated to drop at 4:00 PM.
