LANCASTER, Pa – The Neumann men's basketball team dropped their season opener 97-67 Thursday night at Franklin and Marshall College.
 
Jalen Vaughns led all scorers, netting 30 points. The senior also grabbed nine rebounds, including nine offensive boards. Kyle Thompson added 16 points. Darnelle Forrest made his Knights debut and scored eight points.
 
The Diplomats opened the game with a 6-0 run before Thompson put the Knights on the board with two free throws. Franklin & Marshall extended its lead to double-digits, 14-4, with 15:24 on the clock. Over the next three minutes, Neumann went on a 10-5 run to pull within five, 19-14. The Diplomats answered with two three-pointers to extend the lead back to double-figures. F&M built its lead to 53-29 at the half.  
 
Vaughns opened up the scoring of the second half with a dunk, but F&M continued to build on its lead from the first half, coming away with the 97-67 win.
 
Neumann (0-1) will travel to Manhattanville College on Sunday. This game is slated to begin at 2:30 PM.
