ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated Lebanon Valley College 5-2 in United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) action on Friday night.
Each team scored a goal in the first period. The Dutchmen opened the scoring 1:20 into the first period. With 26.1 seconds left before the intermission,
Tony Andrews tied the game at one.
Tyler Kulas and
TJ Ezzard had the assists.
Just 1:24 into the second period,
Yancy Whitaker tallied a power play goal to put the Knights up 2-1. Kulas and
Brady Mistler notched the assists. Midway through the period.
Hunter Litman added to Neumann's lead with a goal from
Joe DiGiulio and
Cameron Hatziioannou. With 1:44 left before the second intermission, Andrews scored his second goal of the game. Whitaker and
Ben Gibbons tallied the assists and Neumann held a 4-1 lead after two periods.
Mistler lit the lamp five minutes into the third period. Litman and
Luke Croucher had the assists for a 5-1 Knights lead. LVC scored the final goal of the game at the 14:37 mark of the third for the 5-2 final.
Cole DeFazio made 23 saves in net for the win. Mistler led the Knights with eight shots, five going on goal.
Neumann (4-5, 4-4 UCHC) and Lebanon Valley will fee each other again tomorrow evening. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM in Hershey, Pa.
