ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball team suffered a 75-66 loss at the hands of Penn State- Harrisburg in a non-conference game on Thursday night.
The game started off as a back-and-forth affair with neither team scoring more than two buckets in a row for the first 10 minutes of the game. With 9:30 left in the first, Penn State Harrisburg went on a quick 6-0 run for a nine point lead. Later in the half, Neumann responded with their own six point stretch, capped off by a
TJ Lewis traditional three-point play. Over the last 4:44, the Nittany Lions went on a 13-7 run to finish the half up by 10.
Penn State Harrisburg held Neumann at bay for the first five minutes, maintaining their double-digit lead. The Knights would then go on a 15-5 run, keyed by two three balls from
Sal Saputo, and closed by a
Kyle Thompson three, pulling the Knights within two. The Nittany Lions stepped right up and reextended their advantage by nine over the next two minutes and Neumann could not figure out a way to come back.
Lewis led the way with 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Kyle Thompson had 13,
Jarell Keel starred off the bench with 12, and
Jalen Vaughns had 11 as four Knights reached double-digits.
Neumann(2-7) will be back in action on Saturday when they visit Lebanon Valley College for another non-conference match-up. The opening tip is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
