ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team fell 3-1 to Cairn University on Thursday evening.
 
The Highlanders took the first two sets 25-13 and 25-16. The Knights won set three 25-19. Cairn wrapped up the match with a 24-13 set four win.
 
TJ McConnell had a team high 16 digs and 11 kills. Veryl Burns added 10 kills. Christian Johnson handed out 33 assists. Manny Waugh tallied nine kills and seven digs. Brandon Baskerville also added seven digs. Isaiah Raye-Ryan tallied six kills and six digs.
 
In set three, the Knights tallied the first four points, including three kills. Trailing 22-11, the Highlanders scored eight of the next nine points to pull within four, 23-19. Neumann capitalized on two Cairn attack errors for a 25-19 set win to force a fourth set.
 
Cairn jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth set. Neumann netted the next four points to tie the set at five. With a 10-9 lead, the Highlanders tallied the next seven points for a 17-9 advantage. After a kill by James Pollard, Cairn notched another six points for a 23-10 score.
 
The Knights tallied three points, including a kill by McConnell and Waugh, before the Highlanders notched two points for the 25-13 set win and 3-1 match win.
 
Neumann (3-8) is right back on the court tomorrow evening when it hosts the University of Valley Forge, beginning at 7:00 PM.
