ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to the University of Valley Forge on Friday evening. Set scored were 25-18, 25-20 and 25-19.
TJ McConnell led the Knights with 10 kills.
Manny Waugh and
Veryl Burns each added six kills.
Christian Johnson handed out 22 assists.
Isaiah Raye-Ryan tallied nine digs while
Brandon Baskerville added eight.
The first set started out back and forth. Leading 7-6, Valley Forge scored eight straight points for a 15-6 advantage. The Patriots held on for the 15-18 set one win.
In set two, Valley Forge scored the first six points and held an early 11-2 lead. Neumann answered with the next six points to pull within three, 11-8. The teams went back and forth, with the Knights pulling within a few points, but could not get the tying point, falling 25-20.
Set three was back and forth to start. Down 10-7, the Patriots scored six straight points to take a 13-10 advantage. The Knights against stayed close, but could not get the key points to tie the set to fall 25-19 and 3-0 in the match.
Neumann (3-9) will host Immaculata and St. Elizabeth in a tri-match tomorrow beginning at 11:00 AM.
