VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team picked up a 12-9 win at Virginia Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon.
Brylin Adams led the Knights with six goals and an assist.
Maggie Blemings tallied two goals and three assists.
Kara Dietrich and
Cionni Warrington each had a goal and an assist.
Bekah Brosky grabbed five ground balls, three caused turnovers and a goal.
Lauren Carson added four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Catriona Corrigan made eight saves in net.
Virginia Wesleyan opened the scoring. Neumann answered with four goals by Adams. The Marlins netted one more for a 4-2 game after the first quarter. The teams traded goals throughout the second quarter. Brosky, Adams and
Jayana Murray scored for the Knights for a 7-5 lead at halftime.
Dietrich and Blemings found the back of the net for Neumann in the third quarter. Blemings, Warrington and Adams scored in the fourth quarter. Virginia Wesleyan tallied the final two goals of the game, but the Knights came away with the 12-9 victory.
Neumann (1-1) returns home on Saturday to host Eastern University beginning at 12:00 PM.
