BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team got back into the win column with a 3-0 win at Bryn Athyn College on Saturday afternoon. The Knights won the sets by 25-22, 25-12 and 25-21 scores.
Veryl Burns led the Knights with 13 kills and a .440 hitting percentage.
TJ McConnell tallied eight kills.
James Pollard added five kills and a .400 hitting percentage.
Gianni Smith handed out 13 assists and
Christian Johnson added 11 helpers.
Johnson led the team in digs with nine.
Isaiah Raye-Ryan and Smith each tallied eight. Burns added seven.
The Knights jumped out to an early 12-6 lead in the first set. The Lions worked their way back in and tied the set at 16. Neumann answered with the next four points. A Bryn Athyn service error gave Neumann the 25-22 first set win.
Neumann scored eight of the first nine points of the second set and never looked back. A Raye-Ryan kill gave the Knights the 25-12 set two win.
The teams went back and forth in the third set. The Lions jumped out to a 17-11 lead. Down by three, 20-17, the Knights rallied for seven straight points to get to set point, 24-20. A Burns kill sealed the 25-21 set win and 3-0 match win.
Neumann (6-15) will wrap up the 2023 season on Tuesday, March 28 when it hosts Hood College beginning at 7:00 PM.
