ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team's seven game win-streak came to an end with a 16-8 non-conference loss at the hands of Swarthmore College on Wednesday evening.
Brylin Adams led the Knights offensively with three goal and three draw controls.
Lindsey Fagan had two goals and three draw controls.
Catriona Corrigan was strong in goal, making 11 saves for Neumann.
Bry. Adams, with a helper from
Cionni Warrington, got the game going 2:18 into the game for an early 1-0 Knights lead. 23 seconds later, the Garnet tied the game and took their first lead four minutes later. With 731 left in the first, Fagan received a feed from
Maggie Blemings to equalize the game at two. Swarthmore scored the next two goals, 57 seconds apart, and a final marker of the quarter, with five seconds remaining for a 5-2 lead.
The Garnet rattled off the only four goals of the second quarter for a commanding seven goal lead at the midway break. They also scored the first two of the third, closing a nine-goal run, to take control of the game. With the women up, Bry. Adams ended the run with an unassisted goal, but Swarthmore would put home two more before she would score again to pull Neumann within nine.
Warrington opened the scoring in the fourth with 9:26 left but Swarthmore would again respond. Fagan and
Kara Dietrich scored 54 seconds apart, but the Garnet scored twice in a row before
Jayana Murray scored with 38 seconds left, on an
Alison Mallon assist, to close out the game.
Neumann (7-2) will be back in action on Saturday when it heads to Bryn Athyn College for a non-conference game. It is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
