ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team tallied a 3-1 win over Wilson College on Tuesday evening.
Veryl Burns led the Knights with 15 kills and five blocks.
Isaiah Raye-Ryan notched eight kills while
TJ McConnell added seven.
Gianni Smith handed out 16 assists and
Christian Johnson added 11. Four Knights had double-digit digs, led by
Brandon Baskerville with 20. McConnell had 18 digs, Raye-Ryan 14 and Smith 13.
The Knights used a couple runs to take the first set 25-16. The Phoenix took a 15-6 advantage in set two. Neumann worked its way into the deficit and tied the set at 20. Wilson answered with the next five points to tie the match at one.
The third set went back and forth, and the teams were knotted at 19. Neumann tallied the next three points for a 22-19 edge. The Phoenix answered with the next four to take a 23-22 lead. The teams traded points and a McConnell kill the Knights took set three 27-25.
Set four was again close and the teams were tied late at 19. Neumann rallied four kills in a row to take a 23-19 advantage. The Phoenix tallied two points before the Knights took advantage of two Wilson attack errors to win 25-21 and take the match 3-1.
Neumann (5-12) heads to Immaculata next Tuesday beginning at 7:00 PM.
