ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team picked up its first Atlantic East Conference win of the season, defeating Immaculata University 17-8 on Wednesday evening.
Lindsey Fagan led the Knights with six goals and two assists.
Brylin Adams tallied her 200
th career point as she added three goals and an assist.
Jayana Murray added two goals and two assists.
Maggie Miller and
Cionni Warrington each netted a pair of goals in the win.
Alison Mallon and
Kara Dietrich rounded out the goals for the Knights.
Catriona Corrigan made 14 saves in net for the win. Miller added five ground balls while
Maggie Blemings added four. Adams notched nine draw controls and Fagan grabbed six.
Neumann opened the scoring 1:11 into the game as Warrington found the back of the net. The Knights netted five games in the first quarter and the first six goals of the game for a 6-0 lead with 8:51 left in the second.
Each team netted four goals in the second quarter. The Mighty Macs scored three in a row for a 7-4 score. Murray and Fagan each tallied a goal within 25 seconds late in the half and the Knights took a 9-4 lead into the break.
The Knights came our and score the first three goals of the second half. The teams traded goals to end the third quarter and Neumann held the 13-5 advantage. The teams traded goals throughout the fourth quarter and the Knights came away with the 17-8 final.
Neumann (8-3, 1-1 Atlantic East) heads to Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday for more conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
