ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team battled to a 10-9 loss at Marymount University on Wednesday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
Lindsey Fagan netted four goals for the Knights while
Brylin Adams tallied three.
Maggie Blemings handed out three assists.
Jayana Murray notched a goal and an assist.
Maggie Miller also scored while
Cionni Warrington finished with an assist.
Catriona Corrigan made 16 saves in the game. Adams grabbed three draw controls and Fagan had two.
The Saints scored the first two goals of the game before Fagan, from Murray, put the Knights on the board. Marymount netted another two goals for a 4-1 lead after the first quarter.
Neumann scored the first three goals of the second quarter to pull even at four. Marymount answered with three goals in the final 3:17 for a 7-4 game at the break.
Marymount took an 8-4 lead early in the third quarter. Neumann was not going quietly. Fagan scores just over a minute later and Adams scored twice in a minute span for an 8-7 score with nine-minutes left in the third. The Saints went back up by two-goals with 2:15 on the clock. Fagan brought the Knights back to within one with 26 seconds on the clock for a 9-8 game heading into the final 15 minutes.
Goals were hard to come by in the fourth quarter. With 2:02 left in regulation, Fagan tallied her fourth goal to tie the game at nine. As time was winding down, the Saints were awarded a free-position attempt and scored the go-ahead goal with 43 seconds left in regulation. The Knights were not able to get another shot off and Marymount held on for the 10-9 win.
Neumann (10-4, 2-2 Atlantic East) returns home on Saturday to host Marywood. Prior to the Atlantic East contest, the Knights will honor this year's senior class. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM.
