Brandon Colon and
Shawn Vega led off the game, each with singles.
Chris Balshuweit moved both runner up a base on a sacrifice bunt and
Andrew Curran drove them both home on a single to centerfield for a 2-0 Knights lead. Keystone didn't take long in coming back as they picked up a base-loaded hit-by-pitch and a run-scoring double play to tie the game. Three RBI singles would give them a 5-2 lead after one.
Â
The Giants didn't stop there as in the second, they got a solo home run, two RBI doubles, an RBI triple, and an RBI ground out extended the lead to 10-2. In the top of the fourth,
Isaiah Payton hit his fourth homer of the season, a solo shot, to try to chip away at the lead.
Morgan D'Amico was then hit by a pitch,
Jonathan Baker was walked, and
Nick Glebocki singled to load the bases. B. Colon drove in D'Amico on a sacrifice fly and Balshuweit hit an RBI single to pull Neumann within five.
Â
In the bottom of the inning, the Giants made it 11-5 on an RBI single. Vega led off the sixth with a triple down the left field line and scored two batters later, on a grounder. Again, Keystone didn't hesitate to add on to their advantage, picking up runs on and RBI single and a two-run double.
Â
The Knights would have a big two-out rally in the seventh starting when Vega singled to left. Balshuweit would continue his hot hitting with a two-run double and he would score on a wild pitch. With the bases loaded, D'Amico walked to drive in a run and a fifth run during the inning would come in on a passed ball, making it a 14-11 game.
Â
Keystone's offense responded to the big top of the inning with a humongous inning of their own. Runs came in to score on a sacrifice fly, two consecutive bases-loaded walks, a three-run double, and a three-run homer. Nine runs came in and the lead ballooned to 23-11. Balshuweit put together another good plate appearance with a two-run single in the eighth, and scored on a fielder's choice but the Giants plated one last run on an RBI single.
Â
Balshuweit led the Knights' offense with a 4 for 5 day with five RBI and two run scored. Vega was 4 for 7 with a triple and four runs scored. Curran was 3 for 5 with a walk, three runs batted in, and a run scored.
Gabriel Colon suffered the loss to fall to 1-2 on the year.
