EWING, N.J. – The Neumann University Outdoor Track and Field team competed at the 2023 Lions Invitational, hosted by the College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.
Courtney Humphreys, in the 1500-meter race, broke her own program record, finishing with a time of 4:57.63. That put her in fourth place and was the best time among division three runners.
In the 100m, two Knights competitors ran their best times of their collegiate career.
Michaela Fletcher finished in 13.8 seconds, and
Kyleigh Joniec had a time of 14.63. Two other Knights competed at the 100-meter distance as
Janell Goldsmith had a time of 13.82, and
Djeneba Konake had a 15.27.
In the 200-meter, Fletcher again had a personal-best time of 28.04 seconds. Goldsmith wasn't too far behind registering a 29.23. Joniec ran the 400-meter hurdles for the first time and put together a time of 1:19.18. Rounding out the day's event's Konake, Fletcher, Goldsmith, and
Ny'zhja Loper, finished fourth in the 4x100 relay, with a time of 54.77 seconds. Konake remarked after her lead-off leg that "although the weather wasn't up-to-par, we are all going for our goals".
On the Men's side,
Drew Konieczny finished fifth in the 800-meter, third in division three, with a time of 1:58.05.
Jaron McNeil also competed in that distance with a 2:24.31. In the 100-meter,
Isaiah Raye-Ryan threw down a personal best 12.39 second run.
Matt Ricciardi finished in 12.71, and
Christian Johnson had a 13.27, also a personal best. Both Ricciardi and Johnson also competed in the 200-meter. Ricciardi finished in 25.48 seconds while Johnson had a 27.09.
Neumann will next compete at the Atlantic East Conference championships on May 6
th and 7
th, hosted by Immaculata University.
