Baseball Drops First Game of Playoffs

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team dropped its first game in the 2023 Atlantic East Conference postseason, 15-1, to Immaculata University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mighty Macs struck with two runs with two outs in the bottom of the first to get on the board. Immaculata added another run in the third, six in the fifth, one in the sixth and five in the eighth.

The Knights sent the minimum number of batters to the plate until the seventh inning. With two outs, Shawn Vega walked. Andrew Curran then doubled, Neumann's first hit of the afternoon. Brandon Colon followed with a single to score Vega and put the Knights on the board.

Morgan D'Amico hit a single in the eighth, but that was all the offense Neumann was able to generate in the game.

Jonathan Baker started the game for the Knights and went 4.1 innings. Vic Mejia pitched the final 3.2 innings.

Neumann (18-22) will play in the first elimination game on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 AM at Immaculata. The Knights will face either Cabrini or Marymount.
