Baseball Readies for Atlantic East Playoffs

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team qualified for the 2023 Atlantic East Conference playoffs, which will begin on Wednesday, May 10.
 
The Knights went 8-10 in conference action and is the No. 4 seed. Immaculata clinched the No. 1 seed with a 15-3 conference record and will host Neumann in a first-round game on Wednesday.
 
Cabrini is the No. 2 seed and Marymount clinched the No. 3 seed as both finished 12-6 in conference action. The Cavaliers and Saints will play in the other first round game.
 
The Knights are led by Shawn Vega, who is hitting .387 over 38 games. Earlier this season, the senior set the career record for stolen bases and sits at 55. He is also one steal away from the season record, currently with 31. Vega also leads the team with 44 hits, five homeruns, 12 doubles and 44 runs scored.
 
Andrew Curran is batting .315 in 38 games and leads the team with 37 RBI. Nick Glebocki is hitting .290 with 38 hits, eight doubles and has scored 33 runs.
 
On the mound, Nick Colon and Chris Balshuweit each have three wins. Balshuweit also has three saves in 15.2 innings. Jonathan Baker has struck out a team high 42 batters in 60.0 innings.
 
After the games on Wednesday, the double-elimination style tournament heads to Immaculata for action beginning on Friday. The first game will be an elimination game beginning at 9:00 AM. The winners from Wednesday will then meet at 12:15 PM. The second elimination game of the day will begin at 3:30 PM.
 
The two teams remaining from Friday will meet on Saturday for the 2023 Atlantic East baseball championship.

Entry for the weekend games will be $15 for a tournament pass.

Game 5: 3:30pm Winner G3 vs. Loser G4 (elimination game)

Saturday, May 13 (1 or 2 games) (played #1 seed home field) **CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND**
Game 6: 11:00am Winner G4 vs. Winner G5
Game 7: 2:15pm Winner G6 vs. Loser G6 (if necessary)
