LANCASTER, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey teams defeated Eastern Mennonite University 2-1 on Friday evening at Lancaster Bible to open the season.
Grace Ginty opened the scoring in the ninth minute to give the Knights the early lead.
Michelle Hughes scored Neumann's second goal in the 27
th minute and the Knights held the 2-0 advantage at halftime.
The Royals scored their goal midway through the third quarter in the 39
th minute. Eastern Mennonite had a penalty corner in the final minute but could not convert and Neumann held on for the 2-1 win.
Emma Schneider made four saves in net for her first collegiate win.
Neumann (0-1) will head back to Lancaster Bible tomorrow to face Houghton University beginning at 3:30 PM.
