VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team opened the 2023 season at the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament on Friday afternoon. The Knights fell to Plymouth State 3-1 in the first match and then dropped a 3-0 decision to Southern Virginia in the second match.
Against Plymouth State,
Lauren Garvey led the Knights with 18 kills and hit .359 in the match.
Regan Hickey tallied 13 kills and 14 digs.
Claudia Bournazel notched 10 digs.
Dani Smith handed out 35 assists.
The Knights took the second set as
Jules Dill tallied a kill in the 25-22 win. Plymouth State won the other sets 25-18, 25-20 and 25-22.
Garvey followed with 13 kills against Bridgewater while Hickey added 11 kills and 13 digs. Smith dished out 31 assists. Bridgewater took the sets 25-15, 25-19, 25-19.
Neumann (0-2) will compete in two more matches tomorrow at the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament. The Knights will face Bard at 9:00 AM followed by Southern Virginia at 1:00 PM.
