VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at day two of the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament on Saturday. The Knights defeated Bard 3-1 before falling to Southern Virginia 3-1.
 
In the first match of the day, the Knights picked up their first win of the season, 3-1, over Bard College. The Raptors won the first set battle, 28-26. Neumann came back in the second set and prevailed 26-24. The Knights then picked up 25-12 and 25-15 wins to take the match 3-1.
 
Regan Hickey led the team with 16 kills. 
Lauren Garvey added 14 while 
Naye Cruz tallied 10. 
Dani Smith handed out 35 assists. 
Claudia Bournazel led four Knights in double-digit digs with 20. Smith notched 14 while Hickey tallied 12 and 
Emma Dobberstein added 11.
 
Tied at 24 in the second set, kills by Hickey and 
Jules Dill gave the Knights the win and pulled the set even at 1-1. Down 8-5 in the third set, Neumann rattled off 12 straight points to take a 17-8 advantage. The Knights went on to score the final eight points of the set, capped on a kill by Hickey, to take a 2-1 lead. Neumann jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the fourth set to set up a 3-1 match win.
 
Against Southern Virginia, Hickey notched 21 kills. Garvey added 11. Smith dished out 37 assists. Bournazel tallied 22 digs. Hickey and Smith each added 12 digs.
 
Neumann (1-3) heads to Ursinus on Wednesday evening for a single match beginning at 7:00 PM.
