Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Suffers OT Loss Against Wilkes

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Field Hockey team were handed a 2-1 loss in overtime against non-conference rival Wilkes University on Tuesday afternoon.

The Colonels came out strong to start off the game and at the 7:08 mark of the first quarter, they picked up their first goal of the game for a 1-0 lead. 3:16 into the second quarter, after Neumann started to assert themselves on the offensive side of the field, Natalie Zoffer scored her first collegiate goal after a scramble in front of the goal, to tie the game.

The third quarter had the Knights' defense bending but not breaking as they gave up three corners early, but the score was unaltered. That trend continued and got more intense for Neumann as they spent most of the fourth in their own circle but did not yield. In overtime, Wilkes sealed the win with 4:54 left in the first extra session.

Lindsey Naulty got the start in goal and had a massive game, making nine saves, some in quick succession. Elle Smith led the offense with two shots, one on goal.

Neumann(1-4) will be back in action on Saturday when they make their way to Virginia Beach and take on Virginia Wesleyan University. The game is scheduled for an 11:00 AM start.
