ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team took its home opener in straight sets, 3-0, over Penn State Brandywine on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-13, 25-10 and 25-17.
Regan Hickey led the Knights with 15 kills.
Lauren Garvey tallied 11 kills and a .526 hitting percentage.
Dani Smith handed out 23 assists.
Liv Bowers added eight assists.
Claudia Bournazel notched 15 digs.
Emma Dobberstein finished with three service aces.
Tied at two early in the first set, the Knights went on to score eight of the next nine points for a 10-3 advantage. Neumann rattled six straight points to take a 22-10 lead. A kill by Hickey gave the Knights the 25-13 set one win.
The Knights used a few runs in set two as well and Garvey sealed the set two win, 25-10, with a kill. Set three was a little more back and forth, but Neumann didn't let up and another Garvey kill sealed the win for the Knights, 25-17.
Neumann (6-3) will host its annual Knights Invitation this weekend. Action gets underway at 4:00 PM on Friday and 10:00 AM on Saturday.
