ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Messiah University on day one of the Knights Invitational. Set scores were 25-17, 25-21 and 25-15.
Lauren Garvey had nine kills for the Knights.
Naye Cruz added seven kills.
Regan Hickey and
Claudia Bournazel each tallied 10 digs.
Dani Smith handed out 20 assists.
The first set was close to start. The Falcons took a 19-16 advantage and scored six of the next seven points for a 25-19 set one win. The teams were tied at 19 late in the second set. Messiah scored three straight before trading points. Up 23-21, The Falcons were able to score the final two points of the set for a 25-21 win.
Messiah took an early 10-3 lead in set three and doubled up Neumann 18-9. The Falcons came away with the 25-15 win and the 3-0 match win.
Neumann (6-4) is back on the court tomorrow for day two of the Knights Invitational. The Knights will face Cedar Crest at 10:00 AM followed by Stockton at 2:00 PM.
