Women’s Volleyball Splits at Day Two of Knights Invitational

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split on day two of the Knights Invitational. The Knights defeated Cedar Crest 3-0 before falling to Stockton 3-1.
 
Regan Hickey was named to the All-Tournament team.
 
Against Cedar Crest, Lauren Garvey and Hickey each tallied 13 kills. Dani Smith handed out 34 assists. Hickey notched 16 kills and Claudia Bournazel added 15. Hickey and Ryen Hawkey each had three service aces.
 
The first set was a battle back and forth. Tied at 17, the Falcons scored four of the next five points for a 21-18 lead. The Knights answered five of the next six to take a 23-22 edge. Cedar Crest tied the game at 23. Neumann took advantage of an attack error to get to 24 points. A service ace by Delaney Jack sealed the 25-23 set one win.
 
Set two started out the same. Down by one, 12-11, the Knights went on a 9-0 run to jump out to a 20-12 lead. The Falcons tried to chip into the deceit, but a service error on set point gave Neumann the 25-19 set two win.
 
The Knights jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set. A kill by Hickey sealed the 25-18 win and 3-0 match win.
 
In a battled against Stockton, Hickey added 15 kills. Smith dished out 39 assists. Bournazel notched 19 digs and six service aces. Smith added 12 digs and Hickey 11.
 
Neumann battled to a 25-21 first set win. Leading by two, 18-16, the Knights scored four straight points. A kill by Jules Dill put Neumann at 24 points and a kill by Naye Cruz sealed the set one win.
 
Set two went back and forth and took some extra time. The teams traded points, starting then they were tied at 19. The Knights committed two attack errors while tied at 25 to give the Ospreys the 27-25 win and tie the match at one.
 
Set three was nothing different, but Stockton was able to hang on for the 25-22 win and take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Ospreys jumped out to a 7-2 lead to start the fourth set. The Knights chipped their way back to within two, 15-13. Stockton answered with five of the next six to extend the lead to six, 20-14. An Ospreys kill seal the 25-18 win and 3-1 match win.
 
Neumann (7-5) will host Washington College on Wednesday evening, beginning at 7:00 PM.
