ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball team were handed a 78-66 loss against Cabrini University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday evening.
Tonight's matchup stayed tight for the first nine minutes as neither team led by more than four. With 11:06 left in the first, the Cavaliers went on an 8-0 run to pull ahead by seven. Neumann went on their own 8-1 run over a minute and a half span to pull within one with 4:30 left, but Cabrini reasserted themselves to take a 40-34 lead at the break.
After giving up the first bucket of the second, the Knights pulled within two, thanks to a quick six point stretch highlighted by a
Jarell Keel jump shot. At the midway point of the half, the Cavaliers went off on a 9-1 push, again to pull away by double digits. From there, the Knights could only muster a five point run with 4:37 left as Cabrini secured the win.
Jalen Vaughns led the Knights with 18 points while
TJ Lewis and
Kyle Thompson followed with 17 points each. Keel was a point shy of a double-double with nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Neumann(4-12, 2-1 Atlantic East) will return to action on Saturday when they head to Immaculata University for another Atlantic East match-up. The opening tip is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
