ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball teams come-back fell short, 87-79, on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference contest against Gwynedd Mercy University.
 
Jalen Vaughns tallied a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Ja'bri White netted 14 points off the bench. Zaiyin Keys added 13 points and TJ Lewis netted 11, going 5-for-5 from the line. Jarell Keel was a point away from a double-double with 10 boards and nine points. Amari Little finished with nine points.
 
The Griffins came out and scored the game's first 10 points of the game over the first three minutes. A layup by Vaughns put the Knights on the board. With 8:17 on the clock, a free throw by Vaughns pulled Neumann to within six, 26-20. Gwynedd Mercy started to add back to its lead and led by as many as 19, 45-26, with 2:39 left before halftime. The Griffins took a 47-31 lead into the break.
 
Gwynedd Mercy led by as many as 22 in the second half. With 15:54 on the clock and the score 61-39, the Knights went on a 14-2 run to pull within 10, 63-53. A layup by Vaughns brought Neumann within single-digits, 67-59, with 10:41 on the clock.
 
The Knights continued to cut into the lead and with 4:14 left in regulation, Keys hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 73. The Griffins answered with the next five points to take back the lead. Gwynedd Mercy hit key free throws down the stretch to come away with the 87-79 win.
 
Neumann (6-14, 4-3 Atlantic East) heads to Cabrini on Wednesday for more conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
