ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team battled against Muhlenberg College, falling 3-2 on Tuesday evening.
Julia Solomon led the Knights with 14 kills.
Bri Gautier added 12.
Dani Smith handed out 41 assists and 18 digs.
Hannah Strohm tallied 19 digs while
Nayeli Cruz added 11.
The Knights opened the match by taking the first set 25-19. Muhlenberg tied the match at one by taking a 16-14 advantage and scoring the final nine points for a 25-14 set two win. The Muhls went ahead 2-1 with a 25-19 set three win.
In the fourth set, Neumann took a 16-15 edge and scored the next five points for a 21-15 advantage. A kill by Cruz tied the match at two with a 25-19 win.
Down 8-6 in the fifth set, the Knights scored the next four points to take a 10-8 lead. Muhlenberg answered with the next five points for a 13-10 advantage. Two kills by Solomon brought Neumann to within one, 13-12, by two Muhl kills sealed the 15-12 set five and 3-2 match win for Muhlenberg.
Neumann (6-11) heads to Messiah on Friday beginning at 7:00 PM.
