GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University Field Hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision against Gwynedd Mercy University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Griffins got on the board in the second on a shot from the tip of the circle with 8:44 left. That lead would carry through to halftime. With 12:03 left in the third, Gwynedd Mercy doubled their lead with a goalmouth scramble. Five minutes later, they struck again, this time on a penalty corner. With 2:06 left, the ball got loose in the circle again and was pushed home for a 4-0 lead. The Griffins added one more, late in the fourth, to close out the game.
Neumann was led by
Gabriella Cappelli's two shots, one on goal, while
Elle Smith and
Michelle Hughes also attempted shots.
Emma Schneider played 47 minutes in goal, making three saves.
Caley Gee close out the game with two saves.
Neumann (4-10, 0-2 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Saturday, October 26
th as they visit Manhattanville College for a 12:00 PM start.
