ASTON, Pa. – The Neuman University Women's Hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision against non-conference foe, Buffalo State University, on Friday night.
After a scoreless first period, it was Neumann who was able to strike first. Just over a minute into the second,
Charlotte Labre scored a power play goal on the rebound for a 1-0 lead.
Lily Inoue and
Kaylynn Savoy earned the assists. Buffalo State responded six minutes later with an even strength goal and took the lead on a power play goal with 2: 34 left in the period, taking a 2-1 lead into the third.
Just 52 seconds into the final period, the Bengals scored again on the power play. The Knights fought to get back into the game but gave up two goals in just over two minutes, and with 3:38 remaining, Neumann was down by four.
Gia Santorello led the Neumann attack from the blue line with six shots, two on goal. She also blocked three shots, as did
Cecelia Mick. Inoue had five shots, with three on goal while Savoy also had three shots on goal on four total shots.
Noelle Woodard made 48 saves in goal.
Neumann (0-1) will be back on action on Saturday afternoon when they, once again, take on Buffalo State. The opening faceoff from IceWorks Skating Complex is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
