ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Hockey team earned their first win of the season as they defeated Buffalo State by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Neumann came out of the locker room on fire, and it yielded an early goal as
Charlotte Labre scored 18 seconds into the game for her second of the season.
Emma Tauken and
Cecelia Mick earned the assists and a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second period, Buffalo State tied the game with a power play goal at the 4:40 mark. With 11:17 remaining in regulation,
Trish Dan slapped a one-timer in for a power play goal, the first of her collegiate career. Labre and
Kaylynn Savoy nabbed the assists as the Knights moved their record back to .500.
Dan led the offense with four shots on goal. Labre, in addition to her two-point game, added three shots.
Gia Santorello and
Lily Inoue also had three shots.
Sydney Babin was sharp in picking up the win in goal with 45 saves.
Neumann (1-1) will be back in action on Friday when they open MAC conference play against Lebanon Valley College. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM at the IceWorks Skating Complex.
