MEDIA, Pa. – On Wednesday night, the Neumann University Men's Basketball team defeated Penn State Brandywine in non-conference action by a final score of 80-54.
The Nittany Lions got out to a good start as they had a 10-6 lead after 3:49 of play. Neumann came back to tie the game at 16-16 at the 11:32 mark of the first half. From there, the Knights went on a 12-2 run over the next five minutes to take an 11-point lead. The next couple of minute featured trading baskets but Penn State Brandywine was able to pull within six, going on a 10-3 run to close out the half.
Over the first five minutes of the second, Neumann doubled their lead to 12. They continued to pull away. With the score at 48-37 with 13:10 left, the Knights scored the next 13 points, finding themselves up by 25, just past the midway point of the half. Neumann and Penn State Brandywine would continue to battle evenly from there, with the Knights coming away with the 26-point win.
DJ Earl led the Knights offensively with 19 points, adding a team-high three steals.
Nigel Burch had 18 points with six rebounds and went 4 for 4 from beyond the three-point line.
Bryan Etienne had eight rebounds, including four offensive boards.
With tonight's win, Neumann (3-0) equal their best start since the 2017-2018 season. They'll try to make it four in a row on Saturday when they visit Muhlenberg College starting at 12:00 PM.
