Men’s Hockey Falls in Shootout Following Tie Against Arcadia

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team earned a point in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) standings thanks to a 2-2 tie against Arcadia on Saturday afternoon. Neumann dropped the shootout, 1-0 in five rounds.

After a scoreless first period, Arcadia finally got the scoring started with six seconds left in the second after a goal mouth scramble. Neumann didn't take long to respond as Tyler Ray scored his first of the season just over a minute into the third. Judd Katz and Matt Dimaline got the assists as the game was even at one. With 10:35 left in regulation, Zack Smith scored on the power play for his second of the season. Lucas Culhane and Ray had the helpers to give Neumann the lead. Just 1:29 later, Arcadia tied the game to force overtime. The extra five minute didn't yield a winner but after five founds, Arcadia was finally able to close out the game.

TJ Ezzard, Dexton Mozell, Luke Croucher, Ray, and Katz buoyed a balanced offensive attack with three shots on goal each. Dimaline was a force in the faceoff circle, winning 19 of 25 draws. He also blocked two shots. Cole DeFazio made 33 saves in goal.

Neumann (2-0-2, 2-0-2 MAC) will be back in action on Friday night when they head up the Northeast Extension to take on King's College. Puck drop will be at 7:00 PM.
