YORK, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon. The Knights fell to Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 before defeating the Host York College of Pa. 3-1.
Against the Marlins, the set scores were 25-19, 25-13 and 25-16.
Nayeli Cruz tallied seven kills and a .353 hitting percentage.
Dani Smith handed out 22 assists.
Hannah Strohm notched 11 digs.
Melissa Eddy had 12 kills and a .423 hitting percentage against the Spartans.
Julia Solomon also tallied 12 kills. Smith dished out 41 assists. Strohm finished with 18 digs. Smith notched 12 while Eddy and
Jenna Jones each added 11.
York took a 7-1 lead in the first set. Neumann chipped it way into the deficit and tied the match at 11. Three straight kills by Eddy gave the Knights the 25-23 set one win.
The Spartans took set two 25-16. The Knights jumped out to a 16-9 advantage in set three. A kill by Jones put Neumann up 2-0 in the match with a 25-13 set three win. The Knights held the pace in the fourth set to come away with a 25-16 set win on a kill by Jones.
Neumann (12-15) heads to Moravian on Wednesday evening for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 PM.
