ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell 72-71 on a buzzer-beater to Manhattanville University on Saturday afternoon.
 
DJ Earl led the Knights with 22 points. Nigel Burch tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds. TJ Lewis added 12 points.
 
Over the first 15 minutes of the game, there were nine tied scores and five lead changes. With the teams knotted at 28 with 5:07 on the clock, Manhattanville scored second six straight points and finished the half on a 17-8 run for a 45-36 lead at the break.
 
The Knights chipped their way in the deficit and with 6:15 on the clock a three-pointer by Lewis put Neumann up 64-63. The teams traded baskets down the stretch and were tied at 68 with 1:34 left in regulation.
 
A three-pointer by Earl put the Knights up 71-68 with 33 seconds remaining. The Valiants answered with a layup to pull within one. Manhattanville fouled Neumann with 11 seconds, but the Knights missed the front of a 1-and-1 and the Valiants grabbed the board and called a timeout.
 
With 0.8 seconds on the clock, Manhattanville hit a jumper for the 72-71 lead and win.
 
Neumann (4-3) hosts Berkeley College on Tuesday beginning at 8:00 PM.
