Men’s Hockey Takes Second Game at Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team took down Morrisville State in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 5-2.

Neumann got the scoring started with 7:57 left in the first when Tyler Kennedy snuck a wrister in from the point as Tony Andrews and PJ Demitrio earned the assists to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Morrisville State was able to equalize just 1:23 later, on a goalmouth scramble, sending the game into the locker room on level footing.

The Knights retook the lead just 29 seconds into the second when Lucas Culhane received a pass from Sonny DiNubile and scored his team-leading fifth of the year on a close-in wrist shot. Neumann doubled their lead with 8:16 left when Luke Croucher moved in on a 2-on-1 while shorthanded and snapped in his third goal of the season. Culhane and Judd Katz had the assists as the Knights grabbed a 3-1 lead.

The third period went scoreless over the first 13 minutes but while on the power play, DiNubile scored his second of the season. He got a pass from Matt Dimaline and threw it in from the blue line, extending the lead to three. 52 seconds later, the Mustangs scored on the power play to pull back within two. Kennedy sealed the game with a shorthanded empty net goal with 22 seconds left for his third goal of the season.

Kennedy, in addition to his two goals, had three shots on goal. DiNubile led in shots with seven while Croucher had six. Matt Perdue collected the win in his collegiate debut, making 21 saves.

Neumann (6-0-2, 4-0-2) will be back on the ice on Friday when they host Alvernia University. Puck drop against the Golden Wolves will be at 7:00 PM.
