HERSHEY, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team upended Lebanon Valley College, 3-1, to start the 2024-25 season on Friday night.
 
Things didn't start to plan for Neumann as Lebanon Valley scored on a goal mouth scramble just 3:38 into the game for a 1-0 lead. The Knights carried much of the play and were able to break through with 11:51 left in the first as Tyler Kennedy slapped a shot from the left point through the goalie. Zack Smith and Max Donohoe had the assists. Just over three minutes later, Donohoe broke into the zone, cut across the middle, laced a wrister through for a 2-1 lead. Tyler Ray had the assist.
 
At the 8:40 mark of the second period, Kennedy had a shot saved and the rebound was picked up by Luke Croucher. He circled around the net and threw home a big insurance goal for his first of the year. Neumann continued to control much of the play and they were able to pick up the victory.
 
Sonny DiNubile led Neumann with 10 shots, four on goal. Tony Andrews had seven shots with four on goal while Dustin Patterson also had seven shots with six on goal. Cole DeFazio earned the win in goal with 27 saves.
 
Neumann (1-0, 1-0 MAC) and Lebanon Valley play again on Saturday night for another 7:00 PM start at Hersheypark Arena.
