ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey celebrated their 2024 class of seniors in style with a 4-3 overtime win over Nazareth University in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game on Saturday afternoon.
Tyler Kulas got things rolling for Neumann at the 12:58 mark of the first period as
Brady Mistler and
Yancy Whitaker earned assists, giving them a 1-0 lead. Nazareth equalized on a power play goal with 47 seconds left in the first.
In the second, with 15:24 left, the Golden Flyers took the lead for the first time in the game. With 2:18 left,
Tyler Inlow received a pass from
Cameron Hatziioannou and deposited it home, tying the game at two heading into the third period.
Both teams had their chances throughout the final regulation period but it took until the late stages for them to break through. With 1:48 remaining,
Max Mila notched his first goal of the season, giving the Knights a 3-2 lead. The lead didn't last long as Nazareth tied the game just 33 seconds later, sending the game to overtime. With the game destined for a shootout,
Luke Croucher whistled home the game-winning goal, his second goal of the year, sending the crowd home happy.
Tyler Ray led Neumann with six shots on goal while
PJ Demitrio had four.
TJ Ezzard had three of Neumann's six blocks.
Cole DeFazio got the win in goal with 26 saves.
Neumann(6-15-1, 6-11-1 UCHC) will be back in action on Friday as they head north to take on Wilkes University. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 PM start.
