ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's volleyball team split a pair of contests in a home tri-match on Saturday. The Knights fell 3-0 to No. 17 Marymount University and then defeated Saint Elizabeth University 3-0.
Against the Saints,
Trey Edmonds tallied 10 kills.
Veryl Burns added seven.
Dan Barckholtz handed out 19 assists.
Brandon Baskerville notched six digs.
The first set started by going back and forth. Marymount took a 12-11 edge and scored six of the next seven points for an 18-12 lead. The Saints took set one 25-18. Set two started the same way and the teams were tied at 15 before the Saints tallied five straight points and came away with a 25-20 set win. Marymount jumped out early in the third set and finished with a 25-12 win.
Against the Eagles,
JP Perdomo tallied seven kills while Edmonds finished with six.
Victor John and Burns each added five. Barackholtz dished out 22 assists. Baskerville had seven digs.
Christian Johnson notched six service aces.
Saint Elizabeth score the first two points of the match before Neumann answered with the next four. The Knights continued to add to their lead and on an Edmonds kill took set one 25-18. Set two went back and forth until Neumann took a 10-9 lead and scored the next eight points for an 18-9 advantage. The Knights won 25-15 on a service ace by
Christian DeMarco.
The Knights used a nine-point run to take a 16-7 lead in the third set. Neumann clinched the 25-19 set win and 3-0 match win on an Eagles service error.
Neumann (4-4) will host Valley Forge on Thursday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
