REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Neumann University Women's Hockey team were dealt a 7-1 loss in the penultimate game of the season on Friday night.
Stevenson got on the board just under two minutes into the game, and again with 6:43 left in the first, on the power play, grabbing a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. 3:48 into the second, the Mustangs struck twice in 39 seconds to double their lead to four. They picked up two more goals in that period, including another on the power play for a 6-0 lead after two. 64 seconds into the third,
Jamiyah Alexander notched her team-leading 10
th goal of the year.
Gia Santorello and
Cecelia Mick got the asissts, pulling the Knights within one, but 1:02 later, Stevenson re-established a six goal edge.
Alexander led the attack with six shots on goal. Mick, in addition to her assist, led the team defensively with five blocks shots.
Meg Landman had a solid game in the faceoff circle, winning 10 of her 19 draws.
Ella Sciborski got the start and made 10 saves in the first 25 minutes.
Noelle Woodard came in and made 27 saves for the duration of the game.
Neumann (4-18-2, 0-17-2 UCHC) will close out the season, Saturday afternoon, as they host Stevenson in the back end of this weekend home-and-home series. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
