Men’s Hockey Falls Short Against Nazareth

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team were dealt a 5-3 loss at the hands of United Collegiate Hockey Conference(UCHC) rival Nazareth University on Friday night.

Nazareth scored the lone goal of the first period when they struck at the 11:01 mark of the first period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. 41 seconds into the second, the Golden Flyers doubled their lead, before taking a 3-0 lead at the 5:49 mark.

3:44 into the third period, Neumann got on the board on a power play goal by Brady Mistler, his sixth goal of the season. Yancy Whitaker and Tyler Kulas had the helpers. Just 1:13 later, Nazareth re-established the three goal lead with a power play goal of their own. Tyler Inlow notched another power play goal for the Knights, his fifth goal of the season, with 10:53 left in the third. Luke Croucher and PJ Demitrio earned assists, pulling Neumann within two. Kulas, with 3:54 left in regulation, scored his eighth of the season, after a Whitaker shot, but that's as close as the Knights would come as Nazareth sealed the game with an empty netter with 44 seconds left.

Croucher led the way with four shots on goal. In addition to their two point games, Croucher and Whitaker had three shots each, along with Inlow and Tyler Kennedy. TJ Ezzard helped defensively with two blocked shots. Logan Gorbitz suffered the loss in goal, making 26 saves.

Neumann (5-15-1, 5-11-1 UCHC) will again take on Nazareth, Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. The Knights will close out the home portion of the schedule with a start time of 4:00 PM.
