TOWSON, Md. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team held off Goucher College 7-6 on Saturday afternoon.
Lindsey Fagan scored three goals for the Knights.
Maggie Blemings handed out three assists.
Maggie Miller netted two goals. Catriona Corringan made eight saves in net.
The Gophers struck early with a goal in the first minute.
Cionni Warrington tied the game at one less than a minute later.
Ainsley George, Fagan, and Miller also scored in the first quarter and the Knights held a 4-2 lead after 15 minutes. Neither team scored in the second quarter and Neumann held the 4-2 lead at halftime.
The Knights scored the only goals of the third quarter as Miller scored one and Fagan scored twice. Goucher started to chip into the deficit with three goals in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter for a 7-5 game. The Gophers pulled within one with 2:37 left in regulation. Goucher had a free position attempt a minute later, but Corrigan made the save keeping the Knights up by one. Neumann got the ball back and held on for the 7-6 win.
Neumann (4-3) heads to Cedar Crest on Wednesday for action beginning at 6:30 PM.
