CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Neumann University men's defeated Wilson College 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Knights won the first set, 25-14. The Phoenix took set two, 25-21. Neumann then wrapped up the match with two 25-22 wins in sets three and four.
Trey Edmonds led the Knights with 16 kills.
Victor John added 10.
Dan Barckholtz handed out 35 assists.
Brandon Baskerville notched 15 digs while
Christian DeMarco added 10.
The Knights held the pace in the first set and cruised to a 25-14 win. The Phoenix held a slight advantage in the second set, but with a 15-13 lead, went on to score the next five points for a 20-15 score. Neumann would answer with the next four and the teams would trade points until Wilson took the 25-21 win.
Set three went back and forth and the teams were knotted at 20. Kills by
JP Perdomo and John out the Knights up by two. Two errors by the Phoenix put Neumann at set point and a kill by Edmonds sealed the 25-22 win.
Down 20-18 in the fourth set, the Knights rallied off five straight points for a 23-20 advantage. A kill by DeMarco put Neumann at set point and an attack error by the Phoenix gave the Knights the 25-22 set and 3-1 match win.
Neumann (10-5) will now break for spring break and will host Wilson on March 13 beginning at 7:00 PM.
