ASTON, Pa – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team fell in a back-and-forth battle against non-conference opponents, DeSales University on Monday afternoon by a final score of 14-12.
Maggie Blemings scored the game's first goal 1:30 into the first but DeSales responded soon after a player up goal. With 5:40 left,
Lindsey Fagan piled up three goals over the next three minutes, giving Neumann a 4-1 lead. The Bulldogs were able to pull within one by the end of the first quarter.
They continued to make a run as they scored goals at the 10-minute mark and four minutes later for their first lead of the game.
Rex Thenor and
Ainsley George combined for two consecutive player-up goals, 32 seconds apart to give the Knights the lead but DeSales scored twice in the final minute for a 7-6 at halftime.
The team traded goals for the majority of the third quarter. DeSales struck first with 10:11 left for their first two-goal lead of the game, but George, less than a minute later, scored for the Knights. After another Bulldogs goal, Neumann was awarded a locked in player up for two minutes and they took full advantage. Fagan,

Maggie Miller all picked up goals to get the lead back again. 22 seconds after the penalty expired, DeSales equalized, sending the game to the fourth even at 10.
With the score even at 11 early in the fourth on a George goal, the Bulldogs went on a three-goal run spanning five minutes, taking control of the game with 3:20 left. Fagan scored with 82 seconds left but could not make the comeback.
Fagan led the Knights attack with a five-goal game and contributed three caused turnovers. George was right there with three goals and an assist while Blemings had a goal and six assists. Miller snatched 10 draw controls to go with a goal, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.
Catriona Corrigan made 11 saves in the effort.
Neumann (5-4) has one last non-conference game on Wednesday when they visit Swarthmore College. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 PM start.
