SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 17-5 loss at the hands of non-conference foe, Swarthmore College, on Wednesday afternoon.
Swarthmore picked up the first three goals of the game but with 3:45 left in the first quarter,
Lindsey Fagan struck with a player-up goal to make it a 3-1 game after 15 minutes of play. After the Garnet reestablished a three-goal lead, Fagan scored again, this time from an assist from
Rex Thenor. Swarthmore piled up the next four goals, giving them a six-goal lead at the half.
The Knights came out of the break with some momentum as Fagan completed the hat-trick at the 10:14 of the third. 1:06 later,
Cionni Warrington received a pass from
Maggie Miller to pulled Neumann within four. Swarthmore followed by scoring the remaining seven goals of the quarter to pull away for good. After four more Garnet goals to start the fourth, Miller got the Knights on the board for the final goal.
Fagan finished with three goals on 11 shots, five on goal. She added two ground balls and two draw controls. Miller had a goal, an assist, and four draw controls.
Catriona Corrigan made six saves in the effort.
Neumann (5-5) will return to action on Wednesday, April 3
rd as they open Atlantic East Conference play on the road against Centenary. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
